The office, as text
We own our work and get better from it.
This is the office: the part of itsadoor for a company or a small business. You come in to a lobby, open each of its five objects, and read example contents for an invented company. One door leads to Your office.
Some of how the office will work is not finished yet. Every one of those parts is marked “Not finished yet”, so you can tell what exists from what does not.
What stands in the lobby
The office opens on the lobby. It is wide, so it scrolls sideways. Five objects stand in it, and together they hold the nine modules, one for each part of a business. A way out and one door, “Your office”, stand at its two ends. In the picture version, each object opens in a window that shows the modules it holds.

Your office. your own desk and files. With AI: it will help at your own desk and with your own files. Your own room: the desk, the fridge and Git, behind this one door. In the picture version, walking through it opens a floating page over the lobby, with the lobby still showing around it.

Your office has a private locking drawer. Your employer cannot inspect what is in it, and nothing in it can be shared or worked on with others.
Where the employer has not turned it on: Your employer has not given the office a private locking drawer, so there is none here.
The employer decides whether offices have a locking drawer, to fit their own privacy rules. The website’s example shows it on.
A place you host, at the shop counter
- Storefront The storefront will be the business’s own place for customers, hosted by the business itself. A customer will connect with the business first, and then be invited. Not finished yet
- Commerce Selling goods will happen in a place the business hosts. A customer will connect with the business first, and then be invited. The seller brings their own way to be paid; itsadoor never handles the payment. Not finished yet
What the call button will do here
Not finished yet
The app has no AI in it yet. This is what the call button is being built to do. Local means it will run on your own computer. Private means what you ask will stay in your home.
- In the lobby It will help with the business’s day: who is here, what is on, and which record is missing. In the office, the employer will be able to see what employees ask the call button, and employees will be told plainly before they ask. It will not read what is in anyone’s private office.
- At the front desk It will help you draft a notice and keep the entrance directory current. It will not post a notice without a person with that permission.
- At the filing wall It will help you find a business record and lay out who may decide what. It will not approve anything or change a permission.
- At the shop counter It will help you write the public copy for an offer and see the open offers and orders. It will not confirm a sale. The seller brings their own way to be paid; itsadoor never handles the payment.
- At the board and calendar It will help you find when people are free and what is on. It will not share anyone’s busy time until they approve exactly what is shared.
- At the classroom corner It will help you plan courses and sessions and read learners’ results. It will not enroll a learner or refund an order: only a person with that permission does.
- In your office It will help at your own desk and with your own files, and bring up the next to-do and the day’s plan. It will not look inside the locking drawer unless the employer turned it on and you open it, and the employer cannot inspect what is in it.
How the office will work
Some of this is not finished yet. Each of those parts is marked “Not finished yet”. The app’s own list of what it does not do yet is the source for these marks.
Work is its own building
Work is not a door inside your home. It is its own building.
In the app today, the office is a separate version of itsadoor with its own passphrase and its own home. It is an early version.
The lobby, and Your office
The app’s office opens on a lobby: a way out, five objects that hold the nine modules, and one door, “Your office”.
Your office is the ordinary room behind that door: the desk, Git at the desk and the mini fridge, and the locking drawer when the employer turned it on.
The locking drawer is the employer’s setting
The employer decides whether offices have a locking drawer, to fit their own privacy rules. When it is on, each person has one in Your office. The employer cannot inspect what is in it, and nothing in it can be shared or worked on with others. When it is off, there is no drawer.
A plaque on the wall of Your office says which it is.
Who is in the lobby
Not finished yet
The lobby will show who is in the building, live.
What the app does today
Nothing shows who is in the lobby yet, and nothing is drawn for it.
One company space
Not finished yet
The plan is one company space, with a permission structure for who may do what in it.
Every document has one named owner. There is no team ownership. Other people can be connected to a document.
The employer can see everything in the company space.
The company keeps a record of the people who have been part of it. When someone leaves, their documents stay connected to them. Changing that is for the owner and the admins.
Owner, admin and member
Not finished yet
The roles to start with are owner, admin and member.
What the app does today
The app has no such roles yet. It has one owner-custodian for the organization, who has full authority and gives everyone else exact permissions, each for a set time.
A permission can allow
- Read
- Edit
- Approve
- Publish
- Enroll learners
- Admit to a session
- Refund
- Disclose outside the business
A permission is shown as
- Starts later
- Active
- Ended
Governance keeps these apart
- Edit drafts
- Approve
- Issue and revoke delegations, change settings
The office call button
Not finished yet
In the office, the employer can see what employees ask the call button. Employees are told so plainly, before they ask.
What the app does today
The office call button is the same as the home one. It knows which room it was pressed in, and nobody else sees what you ask it.
On the picture version the call button hangs on the wall of the lobby, just to the right of the front door, with a smaller one in the band at the top. Both open the guide. The guide keeps no record of what you ask it.
The conference room
Not finished yet
In a conference room, a document can stay on the table for everyone in the room until someone removes it or the meeting ends.
What the app does today
There is no conference room and no shared table yet.
The office grows like the house
Not finished yet
The office grows the same way the home does. Each thing grows into a room when you want it to, and can go back.
What the app does today
Today the lobby’s five objects are fixed: they do not grow into doors and they cannot be arranged.
What a company may send
Not finished yet
The way out leads to the same outside as at home. What a company may send from there is not decided.
What the app does today
Business sharing, and the business tiers on received packets, are still an open question in the app.
Shared documents
Not finished yet
Each person drafts separately. Changes arrive on Keep.
When two changes collide, the AI suggests a combined version. In the work setting it may also recommend one side.
The document’s owner decides.
In the picture version there is a control in the floor called “I would want this for my workplace”. It is one tap, it is anonymous, and an email address is optional. It is separate from the invitation for the home.
